The Requirements

To be a strong fit for the role of Marketing Manager, you will need:

  • Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across-channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate.

The Role

As Marketing Manager, you will be part of the team that is responsible for the creative, strategic and tactical representation of the Makita U.S.A. brand, leveraging multiple programs to successfully drive overall market share growth and profitability. Working closely with and reporting to the Director, Brand Marketing, you’ll assist in the development and implementation of a strategic brand plan that includes social media, marketing communications, promotions and more. 

You'll join a Marketing team that includes channel marketing, product management, in-house advertising, social media, mobile marketing, merchandising, web design and development, video, and communications. This is a key role within the department, but it's also important to note that a major component of your role will be to partner with and liaise with groups throughout the organization including Product Management, Legal, Accounting, IT and others. 

You'll have significant opportunities to experiment with a variety of organic and paid acquisition channels - content creation, content curation, pay-per-click campaigns, event management social media, lead generation campaigns, copywriting, performance analysis and much more. 

We are looking for someone with good taste, a sense of aesthetics, and a love for great copy and witty communication. 
 
Your duties will be diverse and no two days will be exactly the same. Your work breaks down as follows:
 
Digital Marketing - approximately 50-60%, although at the beginning it will likely be more. 
  • Using end user data collected through various promotions (warranty, "sign up for a chance to win," etc.) you will idea, develop, and execute strategic outbound communications managing the entire plan and schedule: social media, e-blasts, videos, etc. 
  • Work with product, channel, creative, video, engineers, and brand, to create content and work end-to-end. This will include developing related content for our website and flowcharting what it will look like. 
  • Help with the management of social media, and with developing the user database for strategic, outbound communications.
Promotions/Management - Idea, develop, and take ownership of national promotions and campaigns:
  • Coming up with the name and determining and developing the marketing strategy, 
  • While these campaigns are done in-store, we also promote them online and we will look to you to work with the marketing team to create and execute coordinated marketing campaigns across both digital and traditional media channels.  Cross-promotions are particularly relevant when working with our action sports and other sponsorships.
  • Idea, develop, and execute POP and digital promotional materials. 
Copywriting 
  • Produce copy that creatively highlights technical product innovation, making it sound cool to our target market.  
  • Produce valuable and engaging content for our website and blog that attracts and converts our target group.
  • Working with the video team, develop copy to effectively tell the story on video, then market each video through e-blasts, the company website, YouTube, and other forms of media. 
  • Assist with the expansion of corporate brand standards.
