The Requirements
This is a prime role for a Warehouse Supervisor experienced in outbound operations and dedicated to operational excellence. S/he should have the ability to motivate and work effectively with employees and have a knack for seeing strategic opportunities to improve. To be a strong fit for the role of Warehouse Supervisor, Outbound, you will also have:- A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. - Ability to effectively plan resource needs (labor, equipment, supplies) on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis
- Knowledge of Six-Sigma / continuous improvement principles; direct experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives preferred
- Solid understanding of financial statements
- In depth knowledge of facility human resource policies, procedures

The Role
Your RoleReporting to the Distribution Center Manager, as Warehouse Supervisor, Outbound, you be responsible for directing and controlling activities within an assigned functional area of the distribution center in support of daily operations. Your overall mission will be to maintain the efficient and economical utilization of facility resources and ensure proper distribution and delivery of outbound orders.
Under the leadership of your supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate activities in the following operational areas to provide maximum operational effectiveness:

You will interact with employees throughout the company, including various levels of management, employees across wide areas of the company, and members of the field sales organization up to and including Regional Managers. Additionally, you will have occasional contact with outside suppliers/vendors/carriers, as well as with visiting customers and governmental agencies.
Brand New Distribution CenterYou will work in our brand new 220,000 square foot facility that will be opening shortly. We will begin with approximately 30 warehouse personnel on the day shift and anticipate expanding rapidly. In short order, we are planning on running two shifts with the employee count increasing as the need demands, perhaps growing to 70 to 100 employees.

Your Responsibilities
On a daily basis, you will facilitate the start-up meeting and communicate objectives and volumes for the day to the team. You will monitor operations within your area throughout the day, including providing employee supervision and ensuring compliance with standardized processes and goal attainment for outbound orders. Specifically, in the following areas, you will:
Employee Relations and Oversight
- Ensure departmental quality and productivity standards are met through training, performance management and associate rewards and recognition
- Ensure Daily KPIs are understood and maintained throughout the facility
- Participate in the performance review process for all non-exempt Employees
- Communicate on a daily basis with DC Manager, employees and internal groups, including Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, and others
- Prepare yearly performance reviews on all employees under your supervision
- Establish and maintain good labor relations and resolve grievances at the lowest step
- Administer employee discipline as required
- Ensure development of employees to provide for internal promotions and progressions
- Ensure that all colleagues are trained in SOP’s, safety awareness, and forklift safety
- Communicate daily with other supervisors to coordinate manpower allocation
- Monitor and support all Makita initiatives, programs and policies
- Identify and recommend needed changes to the DC manager regarding standardized processes
- Coordinate and monitor operations to ensure performance and productivity goals are consistent with business plans; ensure plans are met
- Monitor and report productivity and accuracy
- Promote continuous improvement while challenging the status quo
- Forecast and monitor associate staffing
- Provide recommendations to effectively address operational issues and problems
- Complete special projects as assigned by DC Manager
- Support quality inventory control through proper SOP management
- Ensure that all timelines and customer compliance requirements are met
- Observe Sales’ requests for value-added projects and expedite orders as needed
- Hold responsibility for both normal and emergency openings and closings of the warehouse
- Promote and foster safety in work processes and educate employees in loss prevention, safety and OSHA policies and procedures; ensure the facility is a safe environment
- Maintain and support the housekeeping standards of the facility by coordinating and maintaining a 5/6S program
- Ensure all work areas are cleaned on a daily basis and are maintained in a neat and orderly manner
- Facilitate monthly departmental safety meeting
