Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

Why Makita U.S.A.

A higher level sell: This is a higher-level, professional sales role than most vendors are providing. You’ll work with several top MRO distributors primarily working localized, mid-tier deals, but you'll also work at the corporate level at times. This is a high-impact sales position, based upon strong relationships, where you can leverage your interpersonal skills to drive your sales over the long-run.

Autonomy and support: Your supervisor was promoted out of this territory and will help introduce you to key distributors and end users. You'll have the advantage of her insight as you ramp up, but she also expects that you'll own the territory and run it as you would run your own business. In other words, you'll enjoy the autonomy to succeed independently, while also having strong support when you need it.

Newly focused team: While we have a great team of industrial sales representatives calling on the construction industry, this growing team is solely dedicated to the MRO segment and will exclusively work with key distributors and end-users.

Professional & career growth: With plenty of room for expansion, especially within the oil & gas vertical, this territory offers an excellent opportunity to leverage your experience and showcase your abilities to sell. You'll have ample opportunities to learn and further develop your talent as well as continue to grow your career. Whether you want to stay in sales and build your business, or move into a management role, once you prove yourself, you'll find opportunity within Makita.

Pride and brand recognition: Visit any construction site and you're sure to encounter a variety of Makita tools. Our quality and performance has earned us a respected reputation, which has consistently grown over the past 100 years. That reputation is certain to endure as we continue to lead the industry with the introduction of high quality, innovative tools.

Excellent compensation: In addition to a competitive base, commission and bonus incentives, we offer one of the most generous benefits packages in our industry, including a company car; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; a 401(k) and profit sharing plan; expense reimbursement plans; PTO; laptop and cell phone reimbursement, and more.

Pictured: Makita created the industry's first 18V Lithium-Ion line-up of cordless tools in 2005 with the groundbreaking 18V LXT® Series. Today, Makita offers over 100 LXT tools with solutions for trades from concrete to commercial, automotive to residential construction, and they're all powered by one fast-charging 18V Lithium-Ion battery.

Keys to Success

This is a role for a professional with the skill to hit the ground running and take ownership of the role. Naturally, you'll have the resources of Makita and strong support behind you when you need it, but our best MRO Market Managers are independent and self-motivated. They have the ambition to excel and the drive to continue to best their own successes. You'll enjoy a mix of opportunities -- some established, some needing to be developed, and others to be discovered.

Key to your overall success will be your ability to develop strong, collaborative dealer relationships in order to facilitate end-user growth. Your interpersonal and communication skills, as well as your sales abilities, will be used daily as you evaluate opportunities, develop and enhance relationships, determine when to push and when to lay back, etc. Product knowledge will obviously be important, but the ability to influence as a sales partner will be paramount. You’ll be making the majority of your sales calls with dealer/distributor representatives, so those are relationships that need to be nourished and developed every step of the way. As you’re coming up to speed you’ll be evaluated on the relationships you’re developing, but ultimately those relationships must deliver. You’ll know you’re hitting the mark once you’re landing a lot of appointments and then converting entire plants/businesses of end-users to Makita.
