You'll have the freedom to focus on multiple verticals from manufacturing to maintenance to schools and universities, factories and more, working primarily in partnership with MRO dealers, but also on your own. The Role

You will report to the MRO Sales Manager, join a growing team of MRO Market Managers, and take ownership of and responsibility for your large NE territory. On a daily basis, you will work to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with MRO distribution representatives and key end users within the MRO segment in order to maximize the sales, market share, and profitability of the Makita line. The end users drive demand and, while you will assume "ownership" of dealer accounts in your territory, you can expect to spend the majority of your time calling on MRO end users in conjunction with MRO focused dealer salespeople. As you would expect, this market includes customers in manufacturing, maintenance, education, and industrial industries, but you will be free to work with any relevant industries within the MRO segment.

Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

Why Makita U.S.A.

A higher level sell: This is a higher-level, professional sales role than most vendors are providing. You’ll work with several top MRO distributors primarily working localized, mid-tier deals, but you'll also work at the corporate level at times. This is a high-impact sales position, based upon strong relationships, where you can leverage your interpersonal skills to drive your sales over the long-run.

Newly focused team: While we have a great team of industrial sales representatives calling on the construction industry, this new team is solely dedicated to the MRO segment and will exclusively work with key distributors and end-users. And, with this being our newest team, it's a "blank slate" opportunity where you hold the keys to driving your career.

Professional & career growth: With plenty of room for expansion, especially within the oil & gas vertical, this territory offers an excellent opportunity to leverage your experience and showcase your abilities to sell. You'll have ample opportunities to learn and further develop your talent as well as continue to grow your career. Whether you want to stay in sales and build your business, or move into a management role, once you prove yourself, you'll find opportunity within Makita.

Pride and brand recognition: Visit any construction site and you're sure to encounter a variety of Makita tools. Our quality and performance has earned us a respected reputation, which has consistently grown over the past 90 years. That reputation is certain to endure as we continue to lead the industry with the introduction of high quality, innovative tools.

Excellent compensation: In addition to a competitive base, commission and bonus incentives, we offer one of the most generous benefits packages in our industry, including a company car; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; a 401(k) and profit sharing plan; expense reimbursement plans; PTO; laptop and cell phone reimbursement, and more.

Pictured: Makita created the industry's first 18V Lithium-Ion line-up of cordless tools in 2005 with the groundbreaking 18V LXT® Series. Today, Makita offers over 65 LXT tools with solutions for trades from concrete to commercial, automotive to residential construction, and they're all powered by one fast-charging 18V Lithium-Ion battery.

Keys to Success

If you're the ideal candidate for this highly-visible role, you will come onboard with strong ambition and the drive to succeed and advance. Key to your success will be your ability to collaborate and develop exceptional dealer relationships that will drive end-user growth. This does not call for pushy or aggressive sales tactics -- instead you’ll need to be skilled at reading between the lines and knowing when to push and when to lay back. Product knowledge will obviously be important, but the ability to influence as you take a team approach will be paramount. You’ll be making the majority of your sales calls with dealer/distributor representatives, so those are relationships that need to be nourished and developed. Some opportunities will be in place, while others will need to be uncovered and developed. As you’re coming up to speed, you’ll be evaluated on the relationships you’re developing, but ultimately those relationships must deliver. You’ll know you’re hitting the mark once you’re landing a lot of appointments and then converting entire plants/businesses of end-users.

If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity, and you meet the required basic qualifications, we look forward to hearing from you.
