The Requirements

A background in sales is a plus, but not necessary. An ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background, perhaps as a manufacturing engineer, continuous improvement coordinator or other similar role and have firm understanding of a manufacturing environment from assembly to maintenance applications. One way or the other, you will need a competitive drive, excellent interpersonal skills, proven success building professional relationships, and the ability to deliver stand-up presentations.   • At least three years of experience in assembly and manufacturing environments.
  • Technical aptitude to understand the assembly-related flow within a factory.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Solid computer skills and familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • A current valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • A self-starter approach and the ability to achieve goals independently.
  • Experience selling to the heavy/large machinery manufacturing industry would be helpful.
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
This territory includes all of Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and the Northern half of Illinois.

You'll need to be willing and able to travel overnight an average of 80% of the time, to call on customers, attend trade shows and for other reasons. Weekend travel will be rare, but occasionally you may need to fly out on a Sunday. We'll provide a company car, laptop, and cell phone reimbursement.

You'll be based out of your home office, and our preference is that you live in Rockford, IL or Milwaukee, WI. However, we will consider candidates in other parts of this territory.

You will join a team of several Assembly Sales Representatives and one Department Manager. Since its formation almost ten years ago, the team has posted significant success and growth. Pivotal to the team's success is a focus on building consultative relationships, particularly with end users in the factories. Quick question for you - click here The end users drive demand and, while you will assume "ownership" of six to eight dealer accounts in your territory, you can expect to spend the majority of your time calling on 30+ factories. As you would expect, this market includes a lot of customers in heavy / large machinery manufacturng, but you will work with all relevant industries.

More specifically, your activities will include (this list is not exhaustive):
  • Maximizing user support of our assembly products through key assigned dealers by working with dealer outside representatives on joint sales/support calls in order to build key contacts.
  • Continually analyzing dealer support of our assembly products and determining potential needs for training and other support means.
  • Analyzing overall dealer support and determining if change is warranted and, if so, identifying an appropriate replacement.
  • Thoroughly planning all sales programs and future work schedules through monthly itineraries and weekly planning.
  • Effectively handling sales meeting presentations, user and dealer training, and program presentations within the territory. You will participate in industry trade shows occasionally.
  • Providing feedback in a timely manner to Sales Management concerning the total market place as well as any competitive activities taking place in your territory.
  • Providing prompt and accurate communication via weekly and monthly reports. The Assembly Tools Sales team recognizes the value of proactive and regular communication.
